Code of Conduct

The code of conduct is a set of guidelines that defines the expected behaviour and ethical standard for students, teachers and other staff members in an educational institution. A code of conduct helps to promote a positive learning environment, foster academic integrity, prevent misconduct and protect the rights and dignity of all members of the college.

The code depicted underneath shall apply to all sorts of conduct of students within the college premises and their off-campus mannerism, which may have serious consequences or adverse impacts on the institute’s interests or reputation.

  • 1.    The student shall be regular in classes and must complete her studies in the institute.
  • 2.     In case, the student is forced to discontinue studies for any legitimate reason, she may be relieved from the institution, subject to the written consent of the college authority.
  • 3.    If the student is relieved from the college, she shall have to clear all pending dues and if the student had joined the institute on a scholarship, the said grant shall be revoked. The college believes in promoting a safe and efficient climate by enforcing behavioural standards. All students must uphold academic integrity. They should be respectful to all persons, to their rights and duties, to the college property and to the safety of others. All students must deter from indulging in any form of misconduct which may affect the institute’s interests and reputation substantially.

Rules and Regulations

The college lays special emphasis on the maintenance of discipline and proper decorum in and outside the classrooms.

  1. Use of mobile phones in college campus by the students is allowed with the written permission of their parents and Principal, otherwise a fine of Rs. 500 would be levied on any student.
  2. Application for leave will be entertained only if it bears the signature of parents, guardians and the tutor. A medical certificate duly signed by the doctor has to be attached with the application for sick leave.
  3. Students are expected to be polite towards one another and show courtesy to the employee of the college.
  4. No student is allowed to use college phone without prior permission of the Principal.
  5. Students are not allowed to leave the college till the 6th period is over.
  6. Students must be in possession of their Id Cards.
  7. Students must develop a habit of forming queues.
  8. Writing on walls or furniture is prohibited.
  9. Students should maintain cleanliness in campus.
  10. Observe punctuality and regularity.
  11. Vacant periods should be utilized in reading books, magazines and newspapers
  12. Read the notice board daily.
  13. No fee concession will be given to those students, who will get reappear in their lower examination.

Professional Values

  1. As the first and foremost aim of the teaching profession is to educate, so a teacher should be concerned and committed to the interests of the students, towards the specific needs of each student. She should be conscientious and dedicated if necessary and should help the students beyond class hours as per convenience without accepting any remuneration.
  2. A teacher should not prevent any student from expressing her viewpoint although it may differ from that of her own. On the contrary, the student should be encouraged. Among other things, a teacher should accept constructive criticism.
  3. A teacher should try to develop an educational environment. She should provide equal treatment to all students irrespective of caste, creed, religion, gender or socio-economic status and there should not be any partiality or vindictive attitude towards any of them. The aim of a teacher should be to inspire students to generate more interest and develop a sense of inquiry in the pursuit of knowledge.
  4. The teacher should instill a scientific and democratic outlook among her students, making them community-oriented, patriotic and broad-minded.
  5. A teacher should conform to the ethos of her profession and act in a dignified manner.Teachers should keep in mind that society has entrusted them to take responsibility of the children.

Professional Development and Practices

  1. It may be conceded that learning has no end. It is imperative that a teacher continuously updates herself in her field and other related ones in order to enrich herself and the student community as well. She must also acquaint herself with recent methodologies and other applications.
  2. A teacher should, alongside teaching, pursue research and innovate to contribute in the continuous progress and development of a subject.
  3. A teacher should regularly participate in seminars and workshops etc. for her continuous development.
  4. Developing new teaching strategies and implementing those in the academic system should be an integral part of the professional duties of a teacher.
  5. A teacher will have to carry out the institution’s educational responsibilities such as conducting admissions, college seminars and so on. She should also participate in extra- curricular activities of the college as in sports, extension lectures, cultural programmes etc. This will generate holistic development and a congenial relationship with the students.

Library Rules

  1. Use of the college library is restricted to the students enrolled for the current session, members of the college faculty and staff respectively.

Conditions for using Library

  1. The college librarian shall issue a library card to each authorized user.
  2. The authorized user shall be required to produce a library card as and when needed by the library staff.
  3. The use of a library card is not transferable to another user.

Borrowing Facility

  1. The timing of borrowing books from the college library will be as per the schedule given by the library committee.
  2. While wanting to borrow and return books, the students are expected to come in a queue and get served one by one without creating any noise at the circulation counter.
  3. Every student is entitled to borrow two books at a time for a duration of 15 days, student who fails to return the book on the due date (16th day) are liable to pay a fine per book.
  4. A borrower who loses an item shall have to deposit the item itself. If the lost book belongs to a set and is not available separately, the member shall have to replace the whole set or pay double the price of the set.
  5. Dictionaries, current issues of periodicals/ magazines and reference books are available only for consultation and are not issued.
  6. Taking books out of the library without authorization, making and underlining or in any way disfiguring and tampering with books or library property is a misdemeanor which may lead to withdrawal of library privileges, or in a serious case, heavy fine and disciplinary action.
  7. All members are advised to check the books for any defects before getting them issued. The last borrower shall be responsible for any damage to the book/periodical etc. unless it has been pointed out at the time of issue.
  8. The college librarian has the authority to recall any book before the due date.

Conduct in Library

  1. Use of cell phones or any noisy substance is strictly banned and the violation of same shall evoke a fine as per college rules.
  2. The library accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left or lost in the library building.
  3. Consumption of food is strictly prohibited in the library.
